Cispus Pass Hike

September 26th, 2007

Another hike with Bob Knosp, this one South East of Mount Ranier, and North
of Mount Adams. We started at Walupt Lake, at the edge of the Goat Rocs Wilderness.
The first 3 miles were a grind, up to Nani Ridge. Easier trails with nice views followed.
We hiked past a few small lakes and up to Cispus Pass where we went from a hillside traverse,
to high alpine, rocky and rugged terrain. We stopped for lunch, and Bob tested his homemade
stove at altitude. Success! On the way back, we dropped out packs and hiked to the top of Nani Peak
for more great views. The hike down was fraught with dust, and the lake a delight to see!
At 13+ miles, I'm sure glad I got lighter boots for this trip. Thanks, Bob.
