The Grand Prix is the end of season, Seattle Yacht Club invitational regatta for the best boats in Puget Sound. You have to have won at least one regatta just to be invited. There's a scramble for crew, and with a wet weekend forecast, I was invited to work bow on Bravo Zulu, Saturday and Sunday. A fast Farr 40 design, Bravo Zulu was built by Beneteau as a 40.7 with a higher cabin and more amenities. Of course, for racing it was stripped out as much as possible. Denny, the delightful owner had a fine fun crew, with lots of experience, and no attitudes. Maybe half of the crew had done the Van Isle 360 the race around Vancouver Island together. As you can see in these pics, everyone was working intently, and still having a good time. We sure had some snarl-ups on the bow, a tight spot with a lot happening, but with Troy helping, got better with each race. The competition was very intense, and close, seconds apart on the finishes, and we came in third in our class. I tried to get shots of our crew, class and other boats on the course. Thanks to Denny and crew for all their patience. . .
