Salmon Bake Trip

s/v Enya

Kathleen & I sailed down to Port Blakely for the PSCC Salmon Bake, and I got a few boat pics on the way.

We had 27 boats anchored in Blakely Harbor, with 71 folks on the beach for the salmon bake and potluck. It was a good one! Steve did a fine job wrangling fish, boats and barbecue grills. There were first time rafters, feats of anchor wrestling, and lots of dinghy activity. On the beach, the food kept coming for another great potluck. If you missed it, I hope you have plans to join us next year. . .

We had a fun sail back Sunday, worked over to Magnolia Bluff, for more wind and less current. It was a bit of a race, of course. . . I got shots of some of the boats, a few cruise ships and even a few of non-club boats. I don't know who that was in the ferry wake! Kathleen & I went to Port Madison for a quiet night, but Monday morning, just a clunk - no starter. Batteries were at 12.5, and I cleaned a lot of connections, but nothing. Pulled the anchor by hand, sailed into a convergence zone, got towed and hit, sailed almost back to Shilshole. When the wind died, I put the outboard back on the dinghy, and towed us home. Course we were in the shipping lane with a big freighter headed right at us. As soon as a crossing boat lined up with us, they turned to go behind us, but the freighter was a lot closer than we like. . .
Just another good adventure. . .
