The C&C Rendezvous was scheduled for the second weekend in August, at the Telegraph Harbor Marina, Thetis Island in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. We got off the Seattle dock about noon for the hump up, played with the big boys (check the time stamps to see how quickly they close), and make it to Friday Harbor for dinner - Thanks Jeff! The second day, we cleared customs at Bedwell Harbour, and were anchored before sunset off Montague. Thetis is North of Saltspring island and we arrived just in time to put all three 35 C&C's in model order, on the dock. We are on Simplicity, the 1974 MK-II in the middle of the 35' fleet.
Sponcered by Yacht Sales West, this is the best C&C Rendezvous on the West Coast, and clearly worth the effort to make it. How do I know it's the best - just look at all the smiles! I have never photographed so many smiles, in one day, in my life. Thank you all! With Jim, Anne & Franks's great organization, boat tours, good food, tech talks, dinghy races, and a "fine feed" by the Telegraph Harbor Marina staff, no wonder we had so many smiles.
After the RDV, with Jim and Anne's recommendations, we spent one night in Annette Cove, refueled in Ganges (never again) and relaxed in Royal Cove on Portland Island. It was so great we stayed an extra day stern-tied, and didn't even get off the boat. Then, we had to hump on to customs, showers, and friends in Roche Harbor, and continued on to Spencer Spit - a long day! With a little more sailing, and favorable tides, we made it from the spit to Bywater Bay, at sunset. We returned to Seattle, a 245 mile trip, and another good one. Again thank you all!
