Jeff bought the Islander Freeport 38, a very nice boat, and I got to help him bring it down from Anacortes. We lucked out, with great currents and the last two sunny days before the storm. We practiced docking, topped the fluids and headed out Guemes Channel, with the racers Saturday morning. We had a good current push, out Rosario and across the Strait, and even got to sail a bit. We came in to Puget Sound with the eddy current off Point Wilson, got a slip in Port Hudson and dinner at Sirens, sweet.
Sunday we left P.T. after sunrise, headed for Hadlock and the Port Townsend Canal. What a nice fall day! We stopped to check the mast height, and made it under the bridge. Staying in the current, we passed Foul Weather Bluff about 10:20, and Point No Point before 11. Yea, lots of current! At Kingston, we could see the spinnakers off shilshole, and Wind Dancer tacked out near us. We did a mini side tour of Port Madison, and despite appearances, easily made it under the Agate Pass bridge. After Manzanita, there was no breeze at all. We motored on to Bremerton, squeezed pass the destroyer and into a parallel slip, wrestled the dinghy onto the boat, and caught the ferry to Seattle, a very long day. Good times - Thanks Jeff!
