The Puget Sound Cruising Club always plans at least one annual trip to the South Sound, always on a three day weekend. This year we went down to Oro Bay on Anderson Island. We got off the dock about 10:30 and with a good current push, were rafted by 5:30. Check out the time stamps - from the first time we could see the bridge, till we were well past, only took an hour - Sweet! Seven boats made it down for the raft-up; Yohelah, Aquarius, Osprey, Raven Dancer, Wino, Simplicity, and Norwegian Steam. Sunday we had a good dinghy group go for a little walk, checking out the Jacobs Point Park. Of course an excellent potluck dinner followed, with lots of stories. We even had a birthday cake and ice cream, thanks to Elsie. For entertainment, we watched a couple boats drag by. Norwegian Steam provided the chain to stop their progress, toward the big yacht club powerboats. With help from the yacht club, we rafted them to our raft. It was a group effort, with Rob & Teresa checking all the boats in the harbor for the owners, and pushing the boats over to Norwegian Steam. The tide had come in, shortening scope, and the big Rocna anchor couldn't re-anchor when filled with mud & kelp. Good save! Monday the raft broke up, and we considered another day at Dockton, but had alternator issues, so headed back to Gig Harbor. There we found Norwegian Steam on a nearby dock, so went to Tides Tavern together, a nice evening. Gig Harbor was a treat, so we stayed another night, and didn't make it home till Wednesday afternoon, almost a real vacation! We certainly had a good time! Thanks all!
