What a find! David Wilkinson, has taught the Marine Weather class for ASA schools in Oregon and Washington, the UW Sea Grant program and at the Northwest Maritime Center in Port Townsend. He's clearly a enthusiastic, weather geek, and an energetic and fun teacher. An experienced sailor, David did the early wind power research on coastal headlands, and now teaches and consults with sailors, some headed down the coast.
As usual Dave Smith from sponsor Fisheries Supply, started us off with a tip or product, and for the weather seminar, he brought a big barometer. Debrah & Paul from s/v Three Quarter Time (Coho 2017) popped in, and all I got was their dog shot! After David 's introduction to Surface Analysis and Observations, we took a short break. Yoga Instructor, Tina Templeman got us stretching, and then David answered a few more weather questions. He even touched on thermal troughs, and big wind off Cape Mendecino. What a great seminar! Thanks all!
