Lane and Rodger's daughter Sara and her husband Jason arrived in Seattle in time to make the Pig Roast. Alan, Kim and Akira arrived from Colorado in time for a short sail to Port Madison, before our La Conner Adventure. Lane had booked a funky 80's house, up West of La Conner, on the Swinomish Reservation, SE of Hope Island, for a family Retreat. We had a bit or weather, streaming sunshine, a little rain, and grey days. As usual I tried for shots of life in the house, casual portraits, and light on the odd details, even the fake orchids. Sara and Jason brought their rescue dogs, and who knew Aki could juggle beach rocks? A small creek flowed below the house and out to the tidelands. When the tide was out you can see why we didn't come on our boat. Like all family trips, there's shared cooking - thanks Kim, and a bit of cat wrangling. A pretty good group, most are readers, everyone has different skills and all appreciated. Well, Alan's nice chocolate was a it over the top with the amount of Lavender added. We did a fine hike out Kiket Island, on meandering trails and beaches, with old growth firs, dewdrop spiderwebs, and views of Deception Pass. So of course we had to refuel and check out the bridge. I liked the eddy vortex, the steel bridge structure from below, and the winding road home. Thanks all! (Click on a image below for a larger image "slide show" - arrow keys work well.)
