Kathleen and I have a Fall family tradition, a trip to Discovery Bay. Originally planned as an extended family trip, all her kids and grandchildren are grown with busy lives. Timed for the Port Townsend Kinetic Sculpture Race, it's too good to not invite friends. Most of Port Townsend turns out for this annual event and folks come in from all over. Jim and Deb, with their good dogs, Sage and Izzy were poised and waiting when we walked up the street. Another sailing friend, Hank took three or four buses and had quite an adventure coming down from Blaine to join us. What a great day, a wild cast of characters, and interesting contraptions! There was a parade, a brake-test, and water challenge on Saturday. We were burned out with the crowd, and didn't go back for the Sunday show. Jim & Deb took their dogs home, and Hank joined us for a couple Olympic road trips. We went checked out the River railroad Bridge park, and up to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center. I had to go back to Seattle for a boat survey, and came back with Shilshole neighbors, Sarah and Dave. We did a bit of mushroom hunting on the way down to the West end of Lake Cushman, and had a fine time. Good folks, Sarah and Dave even helped us pack out! Thanks all!
