Bruce Hedrick did a great local and offshore weather talk at Fisheries Supply this year. Sailing to San Francisco is the serious part of a passage to Southern California in time for the Baha Ha Ha, the usual goal. Sorting out the weather, to Neah Bay, down the coast, and past Cape Blanco and Mendocino is critical for a comfortable trip. Bruce covered observational data, like the UW Surface conditions, sailflow and National Data Buoy Center. The UW MM5 High Resolution requires more bandwidth than my phone can handle! Bruce shared local, regional and Pacific forecast sites and even the Navy longrange forecast. Of course we spent more time on the OPC East Pacific images and analysis. He recommended Modern Marine Weather by David Burch, our Starpath supporter. Bruce even touched on communications, polars and routing. Sarah Scott brought in her engine electrical panel project. Wow, what a helpful informative evening. Thanks all! As usual, I try to get shots of the speaker, participants and crew, and hope you enjoy the pics - thanks, Lee!
