Jaqi arranged a great Coho tour of the National Weather Center, out at NOAA / Sand Point. We had a good briefing with lots of weather info and how to find it. Then we got a tour of control room, where two meteorologists are on duty, all the time, and more when there is a big snow storm. They have lots of weather info, models, observations and forecasts and many different ways to get it.
Here's a few good useful links:
Coastal Waters Forecast [Forecast for all waters based upon forecast marine zones]
Forecast by Zone [Click on map zones to get particular forecast for that area]
[Once clicked on zone, click on point on map to show point forecast]
Graphical Marine Forecast [Marine forecast from graphical format]
Ocean Prediction Center [Site for the Ocean Prediction Center and information]
National Data Buoy Center [Buoy Observations]
Bar Conditions and Forecasts
[Bar Conditions along the Washington/Oregon coast]
What an helpful, fun, and interesting vist - nice to see where the tv weatherman get's his info, and learn where to get the weather for sailing down the coast. Thanks all!
