Chris, Teresa and Kat came up from Camus, for the first leg of the Astoria delivery on the big Roberts 44. She's a big strong boat, with lots of systems and projects, and a good Perkins diesel. We spent the first night in Port Townsend with a boatyard tour of course. The very foggy start cleared up just before Point Wilson. Jim and Sherry did the crew swap in Port Angeles at the fuel dock. No pics of Tatoosh Island, we were out the strait, and rounded Duntze Rock in the dark. We had two nights out, and by the second, were all used to the offshore bumps and lurches. We saw a few whales, seals, and birds, and the light on the water offshore, was as sweet as ever! With light air, we mostly motored, but you can see from the sail combinations, we sailed when we could. We arrived at the Columbia River entry in the rain and light fog, just after 10AM. The river was loaded with fishing charters. We stopped at the fuel dock, found a Kalik 40 for Jim, and headed home. Thanks for the drive and music lessons Teresa. I think we used 32 gallons of diesel for the whole trip, and couldn't have done that in a motorboat! What a good crew and easy trip. Here are a few pics. Thanks all!
