Anacortes, WA
Kathleen often plans an October birthday/family retreat, and we headed off to the Olympic Peninsula on the ferry to Kingston. Starting at the Discovery Bay Condo, I was delighted to check out the sunrise, and walk down the road, to check for mushrooms, and light on the water. We drove up to a campground to see friends we sailed with years ago. Rob and Teresa have a cool trailer. Of course we had to go to Sequim for Dungeness Vally Milk, and check out the new calf, standing up for the first time. We missed Nash's Produce, and swung by to see Pierre and his puppy. Pierre gave us apples off his trees-yea! Then we stopped by Sunny Farms for food and more pumpkin shots. We always check out favorite campgrounds, and are horrified by the destruction, so sad! Of ourse we found a few mushrooms, but looks like a dry year, nothing like past years. Scott, Kathleen's son came out and we did a bit of driving, up to Hurricane Ridge, with a bit of view this year! We took back roads to the Elwha and a nice little Madison Creek waterfall. Still driving, we went up to the top of Deer Park, wow, what a view! The next day, Michelle, Sammy and the dogs came out for thai food in a Sequim park. Sammy finally even got me to play pickle ball, ouch. We still had a few roads to explore, a stop at Sequim Bay where we camped in the snow back in 2000. Then had to run to Port townsend for the ferry to Whidby Island, for a survey the next day. In Anacortes we even ate out, the first time since May. What a fine little trip, now we need a vacation after our vacation. . .
I'm not focused on a pic a day, or a journalist on a mission - these pics are just a few fleeting moments of interest and light. I hope you enjoy these shared moments, the pics are good therapy for me, certainly needed this year. Thanks all!
