Anacortes, WA
Derick was looking for a solid, strong and stable boat and found the Kharis the Spindrift 43 at West Yachts in Anacortes. Russ asked me to come up and help with the survey sail on this big offshore boat. With three sails, genoa, staysail and big mainsail, there is always a lot to sort out. In the nice morning light, we motored over to Cape Sante Marine where they hauled out the boat. Jim Merrick, the surveyor was nice to see. He's always one of my favorite surve, usually comes on surveys with him. Jim was alone, but he brought his tools and toys, and explains his findings well. Back in the water we put the sails up and and sailed off towards Saddlebag Island, discovering how nice the sails were - wow! I shot a few pics in this interesting design, and almost made a clean break, but Jim got me to help sort out the lazarette - what a crazy collection of lines and stuff. As always, fun to be sailing on yet another boat. Please enjoy these shared snapshots - these pics are good therapy for me. Thanks All!
