A Mountain Trip
We had enough Chanterelle mushrooms, but wanted another trip to the mountains with Fall colors before the rains filled in. We hadn't been up the Kachess Lake area since 2015, and by the time we were up to the intersection where we picked blueberries then, it was almost dark. We were lucky to stay at Lane & Rodger's cabin, and chased the squirrell away. Sunday we headed up the Teanaway, remembering mushroom forays at 29 Pines back in the day. We drove all the way to the end of the road at the Esmeralda trailhead. We will NEVER do that on a weekend again! Over 250 cars were parked along the road, for over a mile from the end, sometimes on both sides of the road. We spotted a fire north of Cle Elum on the way back to the cabin. Monday we headed up past Cle Elum Lake, explored a bit, and Kathleen found a good Bolete. We went right, just past the Cayuse Horse Camp, up roads we hadn't been on before. Some roads were freshly grated, but up around Tucquala Lake the potholes made 10mph a max speed. Yea I had to frame Cathedral Rock with trees on both sides - did that shot when I was ten. We went all the way to the trailhead at Tucquala Meadows, and it wasn't near as crazy as on a weekend. As you can see from the pics, we found waterfalls, mushrooms we don't pick, and lots of Fall colors. Stopping at a usual pull out, above the dry Cle Elum Lake, I played with few sunset shots, before heading back to Seattle. What a fine Fall trip!
Please enjoy these shared snapshots - these pics are good therapy for me. Thanks All!
