Anacortes, WA
Heather and Scott are working on purchasing the nice Ericson 38 up in Anacortes, with a Lynne Reister survey. This solid 1988 Ericson 38-200 is a strong choice, a mid-volume excellent sailing boat, without the high freeboard and windage of so many "modern" designs. Well-designed by Bill King, she's a manageable boat, with a good aft cabin, great galley, comfortable saloon, and V-berth. There is even an aft head close to the companionway. It's a design and size that all fits all the pieces together and "ticks a lot of boxes".
We motored out to the entrance buoy and around to the NW Marine Center lift. I always try to find a few fun interesting shots, hull art, and even jack-stands. Look at that wing keel in the slings, now we understand why this boat can anchor closer. I spotted an unknown design, and had to ask. It's a Saffier Yachts 37 Lounge, first one on the West coast, with in-boom main, and electric winches. No doubt it's a very pricey toy. Once out in clear water, we put the sails up for Lynne, and sailed a little. Heather got to drive and play with the boat loaded up. What a delight to be out on the water, with wind too - yea. As always, the all day survey and short sail is exhausting. Lynne had a fight with the tranmission to check the fluids, and Heather and Scott had to drive all the way back to Gig Harbor, a memorable "Cinco de Mayo"!
I hope you enjoy these shared snapshots - these pics are good therapy for me. Thanks All!
