After missing my sister's Pig Roast last year (canceled by Covid) I was really looking forward to seeing everyone this year. We went up on Thursday, so we could sort out the big tent. Friday I took a few pics before the crowds arrived - we never know who's coming. Lane cleaned out a stick blockage on the river and Poppy went swimming with her. Our sailing friends, Jim and Deb arrived with their old Poodle Izzy, and we hung out with them. The pigroast is always a good dog group. I love trying to photograph a diverse group like this! I'm always looking for color, little details, intent and gesture, working to get shots of everyone I can. So thanks all, for putting up with my big 70-200 zoom lens this year - it lets more light through, so the focus usually works. You can see how I'm grabbing shots quickly and often the focus and framing is better two or three frames in. Often I don't have the patience to wait - there are so many shots and other people to focus on, in a big group like this. While lots of folks have been coming for years, there's always someone new, a baby or puppy - Poppy. Everyone brings a dish to share, charcoal for the fire, TP and often games or music. Each year is different but the food is always feast! Not wanting to go home with the mob on the highway, kathleen & I went up to Salmon La Sac, checked out old favorite campgrounds, drove till the road was bermmed, and then went up to Cooper Lake. What a great long weekend, kinda sad to leave!
I hope you enjoy these shared snapshots - these pics are good therapy for me. Thanks All!
