Up in Anacortes for a survey/sea trial, I spotted s/v Traveler back in the water - yea! It was great to be back aboard with Ned and Tim - what a fun crew. Heading out into the San Juan Islands for a night, we found Spencer Spit packed with boats, so we went next door to Swifts Bay to anchor. We put the mainsail on and sorted out a couple reefs just before dark, and talked about weather sources, boat projects, food choices, etc. Friday we tried to make the boom sheaves turn, cleaning out the crud. Oh well, around noon, we headed back to Anacortes via the narrow but deep Frost Island cut and back across Rosario Strait. Lots of currents and more tacks. What a good stable boat, with nice sails, including a super Hood hank-on staysail. Ned put up both the Coho burgee and his big blue "Don't give up the ship" flag. Tim, ak "autopilot" dodged rocks, buoys and kept us out of the ferry traffic. We didn't even get surprised by the Guemas Island Ferry, what a fine introductory overnight. I'm really looking forward to the S.F passage at the end of the month. I hope you enjoy these shared snapshots - these pics are good therapy for me. Thanks All!
