Anacortes to San Francisco
I've been involved with the Coho Ho Ho Rally since the beginning, when Doug Lombard returned from his first trip with Kelly and John Wanamaker in 2013 and said "We have to have a rally, to get to the rally!". This year I finally got to go offshore on s/v Traveler, steel long keel, attached rudder cruiser, with a fine fun crew: Ned, Tim, and John! Everyone had climbing experience, were used to clipping in, helping each other, and in Ned's case eating anything - often! Here's a lot of pics from Anacortes prep (thanks Janet and Lisa) Port Townsend Coho Rally and our adventure to San Francisco. Ned and Tim have planed a trip to the East coast, and it should all be easier than this one. We stopped twice, once at Pillar Point, and later Drakes Bay, entering in the fog and anchoring at midnight - only to leave at 1:30am. This is is not journalism, not really a story, but hopefull pics in order so you can see the process. I try to get pics of people, sails, weather and conditions, and usually a few odd details. No I can't explain the DAKS mini sausage, or Ned sprawled on the fordeck, but I did leave many shots in, to show you the boat movements. It was at times exhausting, a rough trip with water that looked like ropey lava, and a Westerly wave swell that snap-rolled us. I had bruises on my bruises! Bonus: To give you an idea what it's really like, I've included a little bonus video at the end. Thanks also to Tanya & James on Stella J, who took our lines in Richmond, good company. Most of all, THANKS Traveler and the great crew; Ned, Tim, and John! Please enjoy these shared snapshots - these pics are good therapy for me. Thanks All!

Bonus Videos
To give you a better idea of the sounds (crank up your volume for a realist idea of these peaceful moments) and boat motion offshore, here's a little video clip of Tim relaxing in the cockpit, sorta - stay for the splash. . . Just a little one not a real dump. Yea - Monitor Windvane - you took good care of us!
To see the cross wave pattern we were dealing with this year, check out Tim's other video, Rigging the Whisker Pole:

Thanks Guys - what a great trip!
