Magnolia, WA
Housesitting on Magnolia we had been warned to expect crowds. Kathleen picked up a few more bags of candy, and I had a camera to play with. Halloween candy - what a score! Mobs of kids appeared, grabbed candy and ran for the next house. There were spidermen, pajama girls, cat creatures, and creepy rubber masks. I didn't see a Nixon in the crowd.
Most of the parents waited on the sidewalk, and I have no idea what most of the costumes represent. I've never seen inflatable outfits; a porcupine, riding dinosaurs, maybe an ostrich, or the little girl on the unicorn! Some had homemade outfits, boxes that were really hard to move in, and even mittens or wicked fingers that made it hard to pick up the candy. So many sweet kids, even the ones in swat outfits, some with sure confidence, to younger ones watching the older kids. Many kids arrived in packs, and asking if I could get pic of their posse, posed for about 3 seconds, laughed, and then they were gone. I tried to get shots of as many of the kids as I could, shooting mostly verticals between the doorjam and Kathleen. The soft shots from slow shutter speed and fast kids, left fun streaks and blurs! I hope you enjoy these pics from our somewhat frantic Haloween. Kathleen says we went through over 500 pieces of candy in about two hours and then had to turn the lights out. Thanks all!
