Shilshole / Seattle
What a great New Years Day Sail! I wrangled five fine friends for a birthday sail and what a treat! With the first dry day in a week, we headed North out of Shilshole, and missed the polar bear plunge - folks were still on the Golden Garden Beach warming up. Sara and Dave are on my dock, and getting used to sailing in Puget Sound. Ha! Sara's the designated driver. Deb, Jim and I sailed offshore with Hank to Westport last year. Jim has done many days of sailing with me on offshore and coastal deliveries, and while he can tell stories, and burst into song, most of the time he just responds "I'm good." I know that, but would you like more brownies? Actually Jim & Deb brought warm food for all, yeah! Sara figured out the helm, we played with trim, and sailed up towards Jefferson Head in light air. When we ran out of wind, we put up the spinnaker and sailed back towards West Point. Of course coming in under the dark clouds, there was a bit of a wind shift and a big puff. Sara did just fine and we sailed out past West Point with a little view of Seattle, and spotted my favorite Foss Tug, the Lindsey Foss. I wanted to be back by 3:30, as it gets dark and colder by 4pm, and we made it right on time. What a fun day - thank you all! As usual, I always try to get shots of the crew, (look at those grins) sails, water, and scenery to share. Please enjoy these snapshots - these pics are good therapy for me, and it's always a good to be on the water, especially with such sweet people! Thanks all!
