Ballard, WA
Steve and Elsie, original members of the Puget Sound Cruising Club, sailed a Rhodes Chesapeake 32, from Boston to Seattle via the Caribbean, Panama Canal and Hawaii in 1977 and 1978. They are treasured friends and a real marine resource, helping many local sailors. They have been sailing Vancouver Island’s west coast to Alaska on Osprey, a Luders-designed Navy 44 sloop, since the early 90s. Elsies has written two two books about the cultures, communities and ecosystems; Voyages to Windward: Sailing Adventures on Vancouver Island’s West Coast, and Glaciers, Bears and Totems: Sailing in Search of the Real Southeast Alaska.
So we were delighted to be invited to Steve's 80th birthday, and what a treat, they had invited two carloads of cruising friends from Bainbridge! It was such a delight to see so many friends we missed through these covid years.
Geo Rodriguez and his wife Kim Gianotti prepared a wonderful Cuban dinner. Check out their El Cubano takeout.
Some folks brought checks for the Ballard Food Bank, wine of course, and Garth made a fancy Irish Whiskey Chocolate Cake! Yum! I'm experimenting, trying to get better pics in low mixed light, and hope you appreciate these pics and time with friends as much as I do! Thanks all!
