Shilshole/Seattle
Pat asked me to crew on his Saga 43 Fairtide, again this year, and we had a fine time. As soon as I arrived Mike and Carol showed up, and Pat explained I was his photographer. Mike and I had the fordeck, pulling the genoa around, and later flying the spinnaker. Tactician Sean from Tsunami days was back on board along with Grace. I think everyone had raced with Pat before, so it was an easy day. We were out early enough to see folks, like Dan's tank, the AL Kaufman 51, Holy Grail. At the start we made it through a slow tack close to the breakwater, and Coho, Ryan's Farr 39 blew by us upwind. We started to catch the first fleet at Meadow Point. Headed West, we were upwind of the first tug, and behind the second barge, and coasted in light wind around the Pt. Monroe Mark just ahead of Coho. While the SC-52, Duncan's Escargot, rounded first, they parked and we all waited for the wind to fill in. We were drifting in the current with Dall's porpoises, the Beneteau 41, Casa Fink and the Hunter 410, Kusala. Welcome home Wetzel Catamaran, GenM, back from Mexico in time for Halloween. Look it's Sheri and crew on the CT41 Pangea, and Diver Dan's Coronado 35, Corsair, now Emilia's w/ her dad! As the wind filled in, we chased Coho back to the South Shilshole Mark, where they they took off upwind. Again Red Hot and Breeze finished ahead of us! Thank you Al, on the big blue committee boat, Mary H! Good race and nice to see so many boats and friends out there. I tried to get pics of all I could, even a couple boats not in the race. Please enjoy these snapshots - the pics are good therapy for me. Thanks all!
