With Barbara and Jim back in town, we took a house-sitting break, and headed off to Lane's Banti Creek cabin. We got off without a few things, and stopped for ice cream in Cle Elum. I was impressed by the wine bottle fence. Arriving at the cabin just before 6pm, I had a few minutes of late light, looked for a few pics and even found a first mushroom. I had a little work on Friday and we finally got to just sit in the sun and read. Saturday it rained and we went to Cle Elum for dinner. I was more impressed by the fence than the dinner. . . Sunday we headed up South Cle Elum Ridge Road #3350 up past Taneum Point. After Osborne Point, we took a sketchy, very rough, rocky road that connected with the Cedar Creek Road and took us out on West Taneum Road. We drove up to the Taneum Junction Campground, loaded with 4-wheeler beer drinkers and went back to the Icewater Creek Campground for a quiet late lunch by the creek. Back down the canyon, past the lava flows, and into the grassy hills, then we could cross I-90 and look for Thorp Prairie. We didn't find the closed gallery where Mimi may have had a show, so we went over to the North Thorp Highway, past Highway 10, where we took Hayward Road, a decent dirt road through the powerlines and windmills up to 97, 970, and back to Cle Elum. Just a bit of driving on a variety of road conditions and valleys! Waiting for dinner we carried on to Roslyn and found the yellow and red cherry apples. We had to pack up and head home, but did a quick drive up the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River to the Garfield Ledges Trail Head. We will have to come back. . .
