Shilshole to AMG storage yard
After months of sublet moorage at Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle, Hank needed to move his Cal 39 s/v Mar Querida back up to dry storage in Anacortes. Hank's experienced sailor/son Bryan and Kelly, and I sorted out the boat, fueled up and headed out. We motor-sailed past Point No Point and up till we could put up the spinnaker off Marrowstone Island. It was fun and quiet sailing with the spinnaker up, till we were close to the North end of Marrowstone. Around the corner, I remembered the cruising club, PSCC, with Corinthian YC and Sloop Tavern YC were meeting in Mystery Bay for the Memorial weekend. Would you like to go the the raft-up I asked, and YES! We worked our way in, and tied up to Red Hot, a C&C 39. A race was planned and the course discussed, with dinghies, a paddle board, and kayak. It was fun to watch and photograph from the boat and over quickly. Then we turned to food, with Bryan grilling some amazing steaks. As usual it was quite a group and a serious feed. The group and food just kept coming as the sun went down, and awards went to most of the participants in the race. The next morning we headed out in glassy water followed by Andy Weber's O'day 32 s/v Imagine. We motor sailed past the Lady Washington on the Port Townsend waterfront, around Point Wilson and slowly up Whidby Island, always a bit of a slog. Up in Guemes Channel we managed to sail ahead of a pretty traditional local schooner, and docked in a temporary West Yachts slip for the night. Tuesday morning Bryan and I took the boat over to the Anacortes Marina for the haul-out, wash and trailer to the storage yard - quite a process!
Please enjoy these snapshots - these pics are therapy for me, and it's always a fun to be with out on another good boat. Thanks all!
