Port Townsend, WA
Here at last are pics from the Coho Ho Ho Cruising Rally annual field trip to Port Townsend. It's great to see folks from previous years, some heading South this year, and others preparing. Sara and Scott of Port Townsend Rigging did the morning shop tour from mast building and swaging to rod rigging, lines and the nice demo rig where they show all kinds of rig details and reefing. Then Scott did a rig survey on s/v Tipton, Herman's Wauquiez PH 42. We got to visit Lisa and Simon's 46' Hallberg Rassy, and had dinner at Sirens, always a good choice. On Sunday we met up at the Blue Moose Cafe across the street from the Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-Op where Alison of Port Townsend Sails showed us lots of thoughtful sail details. Alison's very animated, all over the loft and is a challenge to photograph. Just look at what goes into these sails, to protect and allow them to be repaired, and see folks check stitching. Manager Erica answered questions too and then David Griswold a PTSC owner explained the Shipwrights Co-op history and took us on an extensive multi-building tour. We saw the original ships saw that made and maintained so many wooden boats, wood and metal shops, and building after building with boats in repair. Wow! After the tour, I headed out to the marina entry to get shots of Coho, local P.T and friends boats. What a full, fun, weekend! Special hanks to Lynn and Steve on Aphrodite who let me bunk on their boat, allowing me to be there for both days. As usual, I look for shots of the boats, crew, misc details, and location shots, just look at all the happy smiles! Please enjoy these snapshots - these pics are therapy for me, and it's always a fun to be out with the Coho Fleet, a delightful weekend. Thanks all!
