Shilshole / Seattle
Kana and John stopped by the Anacortes Spring Boat Show, eager to see the big Swanson. They were coming off a week of charter school sailing in the San Juans and were hooked! They wanted a workboat they could grow into, not a "pricey plastic palace" and had spotted the Swanson on YachtWorld. Oops - it's in Seattle. A week later, Kana drove up from Pendelton, OR to check out the boat at Shilshole. This Swanson 42 is another cutter, a good one. Surveyor Lynne and Andy, who gets into every hole, managed to fit us into their schedule. What a team, everyone worked together to sort out the boat, and help Kana and Jon learn about it. This 33,000 lb. Australian built offshore cruiser has a super strong hull, tall rig, and sails well, with a surprisingly minimal wake. It will be a fine platform for them to learn on and cruise. With the boat moored at Shilshole, we went for the haul-out at Seaview Boatyard, and then ran the engine up and set the main sail. Andy noticed the stay-sail furler in pieces so we decided not to risk a sail fight in 25 knots. We flew the big genoa down wind, and returning, motored up to the North entrance. Thanks Andy for the downwind docking save! The last shot is not really Andy down and sleeping - he was pulling an oil sample!
Please enjoy these snapshots - these pics are therapy for me, and it's always a fun to be with out on another good boat. Thanks all!
