Anacortes, WA
Bob came up to see the sweet Marshall 22 Catboat s/v Askov. It's a nice way to downsize, and a good choice for exploring in the shallow waters of the South Sound. Bob's had a number of boats and plenty of experience. The survey with Lynne Reister was scheduled for Wednesday, but the weather was blowing over 30kts that day. Russ managed to reschedule the haul-out and Thursday was the calmest day of the week. Bob had to drive up from Shelton, over four hours on a work day, argh! We had a good time working through the boat systems, Leslie brought us lunch, and we were off. We took Askov from the canal in front of the marina building, around and through the marina, and out to the entry buoy. We motored in the channel, past the Anacortes Marina. "Wow - That boat on fire?" We were early to the South boatyard, where the guys took good care of us. It sprinkled on a couple times at the dock and the haul-out. Luckily, we stayed dry for the test-sail, and with only one sail, it was easy, light-air sailing. What a delight to be quietly sailing along at maybe two knots - just look at Lynne's grin! What a sweet little boat, good crew and fine day! Please enjoy these snapshots - the pics are good therapy for me, and a pleasure to share. Thanks all!
